Most nail wraps are applied in very similar ways. Of course always check the instructions for the brand and style you are currently applying.
How to apply most nail wraps:
- Push your cuticles back with a cuticle stick.
- Wash your hands or use rubbing alcohol to clean each nail.
- Choose a nail wrap size that is slightly smaller than your nail. If it sits on your skin or cuticle it will lift, wrinkle, or catch on things (Ike your hair).
- Remove the nail wrap from the package, separate it from the other nail wraps, and remove the plastic cover on the wrap if it has one.
- Place the wrap near your cuticle and push down the length of your nail, then push it down on each side from center to side of the nail.
- Trim and then file off any excess wrap.
Some people like to apply a base coat before putting the nail wrap on and or a top coat on top of the wrap for extra shine and longer wear. I personally don’t do either, but it’s totally up to you.
How to remove most nail wraps:
- Put nail polish remover on a cotton ball and push it onto the nail wrap. (You may want to do all the nails on one hand at a time.)
- Let the cotton ball sit there for 3 to 5 minutes.
- Remove the cotton ball.
- Gently remove the nail wrap, push or lift it off your nail. Go slow! It may take a little work to get them off. Feel free to let the nail polish remover soaked cotton balls sit longer or use cuticle oil to work under the wrap to help get them off.
- Wash your hands.
It’s super important to go slow! Never rip off nail wraps, they can take layers of your nail with them and damage your nails.
I prefer to take a day or two before applying another set of nail wraps. I feel my nails stay stronger and peel less when I take a break between sets and remove them no later than 14 days after application.
You can find my favorite nail wraps here! I like the gloss the most. You can read why here.
