My current favorite brand is a gel nail strip – found here – make sure you get the gloss (glaze requires uv cure lamp, they also have press on variety). The gloss nail strips are made of gel polish. I love them because of the styles they provide. They speak to my soul!! They are fun and super shiny. They go on easy, no heat or uv lamp required, and they stick really well even if they do sometimes get wrinkles on the edges (all nail wraps do). They hold up really well, they don’t chip like the regular polish strips, however they take a little more effort to file the ends off, they are thicker. Remove them by working cuticle oil under the wrap and slowly peel them off. No nail polish remover required! Cost is reasonable at $8 a sheet and they usually offer free shipping for orders over about $15 and it’s fast.
Vinyl nail wraps are not my favorite and I do not recommend them. They don’t stick well and they don’t follow the curve of nails well. They tend to wrinkle and lift a lot. They usually require a heat source to apply. I did use jamberry, actually I was a consultant and I still have some of my favorite wraps! I didn’t make any money at it though because they didn’t always work well and I quickly found myself uncomfortable trying to sell them. I did like using them myself, I just couldn’t bring myself to sell a product that had some major flaws and didn’t deliver what they promised. I have not found a vinyl nail wrap or sticker that has worked well.
I’ve used several brands of nail polish strips including Sally Hansen Salon Effects, Color Street and Incoco (which were made by the same people, incoco was phased out). To be totally honest, I was IN LOVE with incoco. The designs Walmart carried were amazing! They go on easy and fast! They feel good on the nail. My problems with them are 1- removal kinda sucks. Getting the sticky layer off takes forever. 2- a lot of designs have tiny lines that look like cracks. 3- they tend to chip away. 4- (this one is only color street) to get them you have to use a consultant. I’ve been burned by MLMs and I just can’t bring myself to buy them. Not to mention that they are more expensive than all the other brands and not noticeably a better product.
I just got my first order of Lily & Fox. I love their designs and the print quality looks really good. From everything I can tell they seem very similar to the incoco and color street. I’ll post a review after I’m able to test them out. The thing that is most attractive is their price! $2.99 and free shipping on all orders is way cheaper then color streets $13 plus extra shipping cost.
Another type of nail wrap I’m Interested in is slightly cured gel nails. I am in the process of researching these and I’ll be posting a blog all about them in the future. They can be found on Dashing Diva (Glaze) or on amazon Ohora or Nailog.
Ultimately it will depend on personal preference! Nail Wraps that I prefer may be different than what you prefer and that’s ok. I have shared why I like and don’t like what I do. I recommend you get a set or two from different sources and different varieties and give them a try.
